About me

I’m Michel Dunn, a real native of Flensburg. During my childhood and youth I spent some time in Denmark and in different places in Germany. Early on I developed a feel for the beauty of nature and this is what more or less led me to paint.

Since at first I had only pens and a completely normal paintbox, the aim was to make the best of them. As I grew older ideas came, and so did practice. I was pleased with the outcome, and really enthusiastic. Then an acquaintance came to me and gave me a small package with oil paints and a canvas. A new world opened up for me and I noticed more and more how great the possibilities of art can be!

Today, I love to intelligently combine different colour systems. For example, acrylic paints can be used to create a good lower layer on which you can continue to work with oil in its almost limitless application possibilities. I also enjoy experimenting with new methods and combinations and am curious to see what else will come out of it.

I was also very impressed by a visit to a Gerhard Richter exhibition. There, I became aware of how few limits an artist has (or should have) in art, and that courage is also part of painting.
